Join us at Hayy Jameel for a talk with internationally renowned avant-garde composer, artist, and Red Sea International Film Festival Jury Member Laurie Anderson.

Recognized worldwide as a ground-breaking leader in the use of technology in the arts, Laurie Anderson collaborated with Interval Research Corporation, a research and development laboratory founded by Paul Allen and David Liddle, in the exploration of new creative tools, including the Talking Stick. She created the introduction sequence for the first segment of the PBS special Art 21, a series about Art in the 21st century.

Her awards include the 2001 Tenco Prize for Songwriting in San Remo, Italy and the 2001 Deutsche Schallplatten prize for Life On A String as well as grants from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. She recently collaborated with Bran Ferren of Applied Minds, Inc to create an artwork that was displayed in ‘The Third Mind’ exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum in New York in Winter 2009.

Liz Rosenthal is the Curator of Red Sea Immersive and of the Venice Biennale’s Immersive Content Section at Venice International Film Festival. 

She is the Executive Producer of immersive content accelerator programme, CreativeXR, led by Arts Council England and Digital Catapult and the CEO & Founder of trail-blazing innovation company Power to the Pixel. Throughout her career, Liz has helped international media businesses and artists to innovate and adapt their practice to evolving platforms, tools and audiences. She has advised countless leading international festivals, media organisations and national and regional funds.
